BIPOC Youth Mentorship Program

Our BIPOC Youth Empowerment Projects

Our BIPOC Youth Empowerment Projects are designed to uplift, support, and inspire the next generation of leaders. These projects include a range of initiatives from mentorship programs and academic workshops to cultural celebrations and leadership development opportunities. Each initiative is crafted to reflect the lived experiences of BIPOC youth, offering them a safe space to grow, explore their identity, and build the confidence needed to navigate life’s challenges. Through hands-on learning, community engagement, and personal development, our youth empowerment projects ensure that young people are not only seen, but also heard and equipped to lead.

About Our BIPOC Youth Mentorship Program

The BIPOC Youth Mentorship Program empowers BIPOC youth by fostering resilience, confidence, and leadership through culturally aligned mentorship. The Program is a transformative initiative in partnership with the City of Winooski ,Winooski Working Communities Challenge, powered by funding from the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This program is a bold step toward dismantling inequities and creating a future where every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive. By pairing youth with BIPOC mentors who share their cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds, the program provides relatable role models and vital support. Through mentorship, structured activities, and community engagement, participants gain critical skills like problem-solving, self-advocacy, and goal-setting, helping them overcome systemic barriers and access opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Youth Development and Mentorship

Youth development and mentorship are the foundation of our program. By connecting BIPOC youth with mentors who understand their cultural backgrounds and lived realities, we provide meaningful support that fosters emotional resilience, academic growth, and leadership potential. Our mentorship model is personalized, focusing on relationship-building, goal-setting, and consistent support. Whether through one-on-one guidance or group mentorship circles, we create a nurturing environment that helps youth thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Academic and Career Support

We believe that every BIPOC student deserves the tools and opportunities to succeed academically and professionally. Our Academic and Career Support programs focus on tutoring, college prep, scholarship access, resume building, and career coaching. Students are guided by experienced mentors and educators who help them develop study skills, explore college options, and prepare for meaningful careers. We’re committed to helping our youth reach their full potential by breaking down barriers to success and opening doors to future opportunities.

Community Building and Cultural Connection

At the heart of our work is a deep commitment to community and culture. Through collaborative events, cultural storytelling, and service projects, we create spaces where youth can celebrate their identities and connect with others who share similar experiences. We host cultural celebration nights, intergenerational conversations, and projects that promote pride, empathy, and belonging. These experiences not only strengthen community ties but also affirm the beauty and strength within BIPOC cultures.

Why Mentorship Matters for BIPOC Youth?

Mentorship has the power to transform lives; especially for BIPOC youth navigating systems not built with them in mind. Research shows that mentored youth are 55% more likely to enroll in college, 78% more likely to volunteer regularly, and 130% more likely to hold leadership positions. For BIPOC youth, culturally aligned mentorship creates a sense of belonging, validation, and encouragement. When young people see themselves reflected in their mentors, they’re more likely to trust, open up, and believe in their own potential. Our program exists to bridge the opportunity gap, uplift voices that are often unheard, and equip our youth with the guidance they need to succeed.

Become a Mentor
